Why should I disclose my identity?
We are all afraid of ID theft online, so why is it necessary to disclose your identity?
To help governments fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, the law requires all financial intermediaries to obtain, verify, and record information that uniquely identifies each person who opens an account.
What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents. Payment21® safeguards your personal information. Your identity records are protected by the Swiss Data Protection Act.
You can protect yourself from identity theft by using passwords that people cannot guess, and by not putting personal information on computers in public spaces, such as the library, and by making sure you have security software on your own computer.
